Happy Thanksgiving 2018

Just a quick post today to wish all of my readers in the US (and everywhere, really) a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Historically, Thanksgiving has been observed in the United States on various dates. From the earliest days of the country until Lincoln, the date Thanksgiving was observed differed from state to state. But as of the 19th Century, the final Thursday in November has been the customary celebration date. Our modern idea of Thanksgiving was first officially called for in all states in 1863 by a presidential proclamation made by Abraham Lincoln.
With all that history aside, I am just looking forward to celebrating with family and eating a nice, juicy turkey!

Oh, and I'll probably watch some football, too...
Here's wishing you and yours a healthy, happy, relaxing Thanksgiving day!

Happy Thanksgiving 2017

Today, November 23rd, in the United States of America, we celebrate Thanksgiving by gathering together with our loved ones and giving thanks for what we have.

Typically, this involves celebrations with food, traditionally a big turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, as we watch a parade and football games. I plan to follow this tradition to the letter this year and I wish you the same!

And with the general notion of giving thanks on this fine day, I want to also pause and thank each and every one of you for reading my blog, whether just today, or all year long. Hopefully you'll keep coming back and we can keep discussing all things Db2 here.

But for today, wherever you may be, I am thankful for you and I wish you a very happy day!

Oh... and try not to get trampled on Friday if you're going out shopping for bargains!

Happy Thanksgiving 2015

Every year this week those of us in the USA take time out to give thanks for all that we have. We do this by taking time off of work, gathering with our families, eating turkey (and a lot of other stuff), and watching football.

It is one of my favorite holidays as it offers most of the joys of Christmas without many of the trappings.

So with this in mind, I'd like to wish all of my readers -- whether you reside here in the USA or anywhere in the world -- a very Happy Thanksgiving. Take some time to reflect on your good fortune... consider what you might be able to do to help others achieve success... and relax a bit and enjoy yourself...

We can talk about DB2 and databases again in December!

Peace, Prosperity and Happy Thanksgiving

Just a quick blog post today to wish all of my readers, wherever they live, peace and prosperity during this holiday season.

And to my readers in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving. You know what that means, right? Relatives, football, and a lot of food, including turkey!

It also means that we are about to "officially" start the holiday shopping season, which begins on Black Friday. Of course, anyone who has been out in the mall, or to any store really, knows that the holiday season started right after Halloween. But for most people it begins this week!

So, Happy Thanksgiving to the US folks... and peace, happiness and warm thoughts to all of you everywhere this week.
